How to distinguish the advantages and disadvantages of LED chip beads?

With the rapid development of the electronics industry, some basic electronic components have been more widely used, such as LED chip lamp beads. LED chip beads are highly favored in the electronics market, with some models of products becoming popular. As the development of LED SMD beads continues to improve, more and more people are joining the LED SMD bead industry, resulting in uneven quality of LED SMD beads in the market. For buyers, how to distinguish between the advantages and disadvantages of LED chip beads?
The advantages and disadvantages of LED patch beads can be distinguished from the following 7 points:
1. The difference in wire bonding materials: The chip and bracket are connected to the electrodes using a gold wire welding method. Currently, there are two types of wire on the market: alloy wire and pure gold wire, with pure gold wire being better. Lanjin Optoelectronics uses pure gold wire divided into 0.7, 0.9, 1.0, 1.2, etc. according to thickness. The thicker the gold wire, the lower the heat group, and the longer the service life. Therefore, it is necessary to inquire about the material and diameter of the gold wire.
2. The difference in the materials of lamp bead brackets: Currently, there are aluminum brackets, brass brackets, red copper brackets, etc. on the market. Aluminum brackets are cheap, while red copper brackets are expensive, with a price difference of more than ten times. Even for copper brackets, the price of silver plating can vary. The market generally refers to good brackets, and most of them are made of brass plated with silver.
3. The difference in chip size: Usually, the reported chip size is in mils. Without a high-power measuring microscope, it is generally difficult to distinguish, as the larger the chip, the brighter it is. We can compare chip sizes by calculating chip area, such as 23X10. The area of a chip is 230 square mils, and using chip area to distinguish chip sizes is a good method.
4. Difference between phosphors: white light bulbs are made of blue chips and yellow phosphors, which are mainly divided into aluminate and silicate. The performance of aluminate is better than that of silicate. YAG, represented by aluminate, has stable performance and low light attenuation. Silicate itself has poor chemical stability, but its brightness is higher than that of YAG. If you want to be a product with stable performance, you should not be fooled by the so-called high brightness. This is a big problem.
5. The difference between glue and fluorescent powder: Fluorescent powder needs to be mixed with glue before being applied to the chip. The quality of the glue affects light decay and color drift. Poor glue will yellow and increase light decay over time, while good glue is jelly glue.
6. LED chip electrode pattern: The quality of LED varies depending on the chip manufacturer. LED suppliers will declare that their LED beads are packaged with branded chips, and after white light LED packaging, the manufacturer of the chip cannot be determined from its appearance. Therefore, the chip needs to be peeled off and inspected under a high-power microscope.
7. Specifications for color separation, voltage separation, and light separation:
1) Color separation: It refers to color temperature classification. Regular packaging factories will provide BIN codes for color temperature. The smaller the color temperature classification, the better. The smaller the color temperature classification, the better the color consistency of the light source produced.
2) Voltage division: refers to the voltage division of the chip, which is a series parallel connection method for the light source. The voltage division is controlled within 0.15V, so that the current distribution of the light source is uniform, which is beneficial for improving the lifespan of the light source.
3) Dimming: refers to the dimming of lamp beads, which can be divided into lumen or light intensity levels. For lighting sources, lumen levels are used. It is recommended to purchase LEDs based on light efficiency. High light efficiency products are the only ones that can save energy and have a long lifespan.
